Help me come up with a title for my science fair project, plz?
Question: What material is optimal for use as a bowstring in a PVC pipe archery bow?
Hypothesis: The bowstring must be strong enough to pull the limbs of the bow into the proper shape and be flexible but nonelastic. The reasoning for this is that the force that drives the arrow forward is created in the limbs of the bow and not the string; therefore, when the bow is drawn, the result should be that the limbs of the bow are bending and the string is not elongating. For this reason, I hypothesize that the elasticity of the bowstring must be minimal but the bowstring must be strong and flexible enough to pull the bow into the desired shape.
Any good ideas?
