I hate the sling that I have on my rifle. Being that I have long hair, even if I have it tied back, I always manage to pull my hair a lot when I'm out deer hunting or coyote hunting. I like leather slings, but they are very expensive. The sling I have is a plastic-y foam-y thing from Walmart.
Any ideas?
Thanks in advance yall.
I've tired that, but I still manage, somehow for that to happen.
Gregg Andrews- Things are ok.. he made bond yesterday around 3 and came and got his stuff.. was more worried about the dang dog, but his loss, not mine. I'm still not going to put nothing by him. I have my shotgun loaded behind the front door and all doors are locked.
A great solution for a creative country girl would be to find an old saddle strap, or long reign, and fashion a sling just for you. If you have the skills, or know someone who does this would be a great way to go because it would be your own design and would suit you. The $20 sling mentioned by DJ sounds like a good 2nd choice.

This book not only features reports of coyote attacks on travelers and animals, it examines the habits of coyotes, their habitats, and their hunting strategies.
Achilladelis and Antonakis conducted a historical study of the dynamics and tendencies of technological innovation in the pharmaceutical industry. From this standpoint, pursuing increase in market share, major pharma companies undertake mergers and acquisitions. As the majority of specialists points out, particularly mergers and acquisitions are considered to be essential ways to obtain innovation capabilities and assuming control levers of any major technological changes within biotech industry. For instance, in the beginning of 90s, Swiss pharmaceutical giant Hoffmann-La Roche after creating a complex network of licensing and research agreements, embraced a new strategy that quickly moved the firm more deeply into the biotech field. In effect, Roche decided to transplant a generalized biotech capability through acquisition. It began by buying equity stakes in the biotechs with which it was collaborating, a relatively common element in the large firm/small firm alliances in this industry. But next, it broke the mold by purchasing a controlling (60%) share of the most successful of the biotech startups, Genentech. Meanwhile, the Swiss firm was spending between $130 and $140 million a year on its in-house capabilities in the new field.
By the mid-1990s, it was becoming apparent that various kinds of collaborative arrangements between biotechs and pharmaceutical companies would continue to be an important feature of the current long cycle of innovation in this industry. As Glaxo’s director of corporate development explained, “No emerging or established pharmaceutical company is large enough, or smart enough to meet all of its knowledge needs in isolation.” The front across which change was taking place in the biomedical sciences was so broad that even the largest pharmaceutical firms could no longer bring in-house all of the research capabilities they needed. Indeed, the "knowledge needs" were so pressing that they had given rise to a new subdiscipline, "bioinformatics," that combined genomic information with computer technology in order to make data more widely available to scientists.
One of the peculiar trends regarding innovation in pharmaceutical industry is that R&D represents a major determinant of company’s competitiveness. Simultaneously, large pharmaceutical firms transfer their R&D activities to so-called dedicated biotechnology firms, because they usually have higher innovative capabilities.

I am a commercial real estate company and the owner of the notebook fits me well. I like the speed and energy density but it works Toshiba. comfortable keyboard wide look to appear on the screen and good battery life.
It 'really amazing that there 500GIGS hard drive which is more than my two desktop computers combined. And the price incredible! I'm buying one for my husband too.

I had a HP laptop that I bought 5 years ago (still working but very slow and battery almost dead) and this toshiba replaces it. That old HP pavilion's build quality is very good and it lasted me all these years without any issues. I'm not sure I can say the same thing with this Toshiba. This is made cheap to make it light and materials were of lower quality. Keyboard has smooth keys and buttons are very thin. Screen looks very good at full brightness and we can get only 4 hrs of battery life with this setting. If you make the screen dim, you can get up to 7 hrs of battery life but working at this level is almost impossible. So, don't go by the "9HR" battery marketing gimmic. It's true only in ideal conditions.
Processor speed is good (infact it is Pentium DUAL-CORE). Amazon didn't specify it in their description. I comfortably ran HD youtube, 1 virtual machine and office installation all at once without any issues. if you need ultra portability, go for this. If you need muscle and longer life, look elsewhere.
We're replacing the ASUS EeePC that we used for university classes. It's a perfect 'tweener' between an underpowered Netbook and a heavy, bad battery life laptop. I'd call it a Lapbook. Beautiful screen that is shorter than a full size laptop. Recommend a bluetooth mouse because the track pad is pretty small.
My only complaint is that for some reason it take a long time to launch any application after bringing out of hibernate and logging in. My wife logged in and clicked on Firefox.
Wow.. Great little laptop, I've never owned a Toshiba but I honestly couldn't be happier. This thing screams and the battery lasts forever. It collects a lot of fingerprints due to its shiny exterior but all in all there's nothing bad about it. The perfect laptop for any casual user, can do loads more than a netbook but still has the size and weight of one. Bought the Toshiba PA3761U-1DV2 Portable/Slim USB SuperMulti DVD-Writer to go with it and it works like a charm. One thing to note - the WINDVD software that comes with the external drive asks for a Serial number for installation - for some reason the serial number is on the DVD itself and nowhere else. So write it down before installing.
I wanted a light laptop that was faster and provided more options than a netbook. I've had this laptop for over two weeks now and already took it on a trip with me. I have read all the reviews of this laptop on Amazon and other sites as well as reviews of similar Toshiba Satellite laptops. I was prepared for some of the problems I have read about but experienced none. The low volume problem that many mentioned is easily fixed by going into the sound settings and making adjustments there. I had no problem using the keyboard or the mousepad. I don't know why some others had complaints. The "fingerprint magnet" issue that is widely mentioned was not as bad as I had expected. So I am satisfied with my new laptop and find that it meets my needs.
My laptop seems to have all the same characteristics with a slightly different model number so I am reviewing here. My main computer crashed with a problem that will take weeks to fix so I needed a substitute right away. I bought the Satellite U5O5-S2950 at Wallmart.
First the bad things: It has an impact sensor on it that gives a message that it has moved the hard drive to a safe place. Every time I bumped the table leg I got the message. It did not, however, interfere with what I was doing. Once I determined that the hard drive would promptly move back to it working position, I told the computer to not to give me the message any more, solving the problem. The second thing that is driving me crazy it the shiny dark gray on on shiny dark brown keyboard. What with the minimal contrast between the symbols and the background and the glare on the shiny keys, it is nearly impossible to see. I am a hunt and peck typist. I pretty well know where the letters are, but the symbols very hard to find. This is definitely not a computer for a low vision user - or even a user whose vision has any imperfections.
Otherwise the computer is wonderful. It comes with Windows 7. So far I have found no problems with it. It also has Works which is adequate for most needs. I installed Word Perfect Office X4. The Toshiba comes with a trial offer of Microsoft Office. I was unable to configure the new mail program called "Live" to pick up my mail, but my Word Perfect mail program seemed to have no problem.
I have a slight hand tremor, and the touchpad took way to much effort to get the pointer where I wanted it so I got an external mouse. I don't think the touchpad is worse than those of other laptops. There are many slots for peripherals. It comes with a DVD drive. Since my other computer isn't here and doesn't work, I have been unable to test the 'sync" function. Nor have I tried logging in from "hotspots" which I have never done and wish to try.
This computer is barely bigger than the "netbook" type, but it is slim and light weight and more functional than a netbook. Were it not for the low contrast keyboard I would have given it 5 stars.
As a programmer/webmaster, I am usually upgrading/fixing my old computers for experience. However, after a CCFL (backlight) failure I decided it was finally time to upgrade past my 2gb RAM and eternally failing HP Pavilion; within a week, I had decided from a concatenation of research that the panoply of options available for the new model of the Satellite were definitely worth the amazing price.
At first I may have been wary of the smaller screen size, but after about a day of using it everything suddenly became copasetic. If you are really worried about the size, just get a second monitor for home-use. Also, the dual core on this tiny beast is FAST. And using the Eco mode, I have been able to effectively carry around my laptop for about 48 hours without the battery even coming close to running out, even while using it for about 9 of those hours!
Now it's definitely true that the trackpad has some problems; the simple solution: get an external mouse. All around I am very impressed with the device. Now I just need to find a reasonable way to fill 500gb of hard drive space.
Where To BuyToshiba Satellite T135-S1330 TruBrite 13.3-Inch Ultrathin Laptop (Black)
2nd Toshiba-Smaller and Mightier!
I just received this laptop a week ago from Amazon. I have a Toshiba Satellite P205 I got in late 2007. It still is going strong BUT it is a beast..17" and heavy. It was fine at first when my time was spent at my home office, but a bear to travel with.
I happened upon this one at a local office supply store and fell for it right away and after much research found that Amazon had the best build out for the best price! EVen better than Toshiba!
My thoughts at 1st were to keep my "beast" going as my home computer and just take this baby on the road..but I think that will be too crazy to keep everything sync'd up over sharing the wireless network.
I was able to quickly set this baby up! I figured out how to do the easy transfer over my wireless network and am almost fully set up on one computer. This computer is very fast and though I was used to a 17" monitor, I have not really felt like I am missing that extra screen. The keyboard is cramped in comparison but I am getting used to it. I do find myself making more typing mistakes. I do find that the bar at the bottom does take a bit more effort to push down but I learned a trick the other day I never learned before. I never realized you could just tap on the mouse pad to go where you wanted to go! I also figured I would be using a mouse anyway. SO I got a logitech lap pad that has a pull out mouse pad that has made this easier to use witha mouse while in my lap!
I did the recommendations for changing the sound options so I didn't have any initial issues with low sound as described in other reviews of similar models. I am downloading the driver update right now as and added measure
I do not miss the optical drive at this point. I almost considered the U models because it had the built in optical drive but that would have been a HUGE trade off in battery life! SO far I have gotten up to 6 hours of battery on this. I could have gone longer but I had to replug in when I was in the middle of doing something that would take longer than what was left. I am lucky to get just over 2 hours of life on "the beast". I bought the Samsung optical drive recommended here when I bought the laptop and that worked great to load software into this. Is small and light enought to go with me on longer trips just in case. I hardly used the drive so I know I made theright choice to choose battery life over built in drive.
I was able to stash this baby in my purse yesterday, go to a client and sit in a marathon meeting for 6 hours without having it plugged in! Huge plus!
I am still getting used to Windows 7 quirks..but so far I am happy with this one. Always liked the toshibas I have owned or worked on in the past. Expecting to LOVE travelling with this one this year and putting the beast to rest! Great price and great little machine so far!
Very fast and responsive laptop with expansive battery life. The 1366x768 screen is sharp and very bright too, with much crisper whites than the other 3 LCDs on my desktop. Solid build quality on this and whisper quiet, compared to my Acer Aspire 4530 14inch that this replaced. Total usable capacity on drive shows at 455GB out of the box. I'm not sure whether it's the 4100 processor or Windows 7, but this machine screams compared to my prior Vista laptop with an Athlon X2 dual-core QL-60. Performance with Microsoft Office Beta 10 is also exceptional, with Microsoft Excel opening in milliseconds compared to seconds on the Acer. I'm a suit spending lots of time on planes, and not a gamer--so I can't comment on how it performs in 3D graphics but that's not my use case anymore (unfortunately). They keyboard is a bit cramped--but you quickly get used to it after a few days. And the trade-off for thin and light far outweighs having a much larger keyboard.
The biggest bonus is that my machine did not come with the usual bloatware that plagues most other new laptops, so the out-of-box experience was smooth and painless. For the price, I don't think you can find a better deal: 4GB RAM, Win 7 64 bit, 6+ hour battery life and a half-terabyte hard drive for well under a grand. There may be smaller and faster laptops out there, but not for the money.

hunting forums are a great place to update your knowledge base about hunting. The tips and tricks posted can come to your aide at any point of time. And you can also learn a lot from the experiences of your fellow hunters. Thus, you can easily avoid the mistakes which others committed. And it's not just about our benefit. Even we can post our experiences and thoughts on the forum and let others take full advantage of them.
The tips I read in some of the hunting forums were really effective. One of them was that deer hunting is most effective at dawn or dusk because at this time of a day, the deer is most active. One more was that it is better to find the food source of the animal. You are most likely to trap it there. The third was to find trail marks of land animals. They can give you good idea of the places the animal visits very frequently. Fourth was to build a really good set of notes. Your quest for a hunt can easily weaken your memory. The fifth tip I came across was to keep the body movements to a minimum. Impulsive body actions can easily scare off of the animal. And the most important tip- Be Ready. Hunting is an exercise where a moment of inactiveness can cost you a prey.
The two most visited hunting forums are that of deers and ducks. In deer hunting forums, you can find information regarding all the different species of deers like whitetail, Mule, moose, Elk, etc. In these forums, discussions about the different weapons used for deer hunting are also carried out. Weapons like Bow & arrow, rifle, Muzzleloader and Shotgun are taken up. Deer hunting forums are also a good place to sell off your hunting equipment. Here you can directly communicate with the buyer and bargain the rates. No third-party interference at all. You even get a chance to read about the different recipes of the deer. Discussions about different hunting spots also take place.
There are bear & wolf hunting tips and stories with tons of pictures. duck hunting forums are similar to deer hunting forums. Only difference is that ducks are the topic of discussion in the former. Also you can talk about goose hunting in here. You can even play online hunting games in these forums. They act as a perfect simulator for the actual activity. Photo sharing is a very popular feature of duck hunting forums.
So we can easily see that hunting is no longer just an on-field job. There is a lot which goes in it off-field as well. And this is happening due to the advent of internet. The hunting forums provide an excellent opportunity to expand the fun of hunting. They are also responsible for growing number of local hunters. The e-presence of hunting is all to be seen!
