What is the perfect shot placement on a large ungulate(hoofed animal)?
A lot of experienced hunters choose "sweet spots" where they prefer to target large game animals. Where do you feel is the perfect spot to hit on a large ungulate like a whitetail/mulie/elk/moose/caribou if you were given 100% chance of hitting the animal exactly where you wanted too hit it.
Don't take in account the position of the animal, caliber of weapon, weather, range, etc.
Imagine it is a perfect shot, with the perfect weapon at the perfect range and you were guarenteed to hit where you wanted to hit the animal......where would you want to put the projectile.
Sorry for the long explanation, just want to make sure I am communicating what I am looking for and I don't want a lot of reading between the lines! =)
I guess we should include weapons on this.
An archery hunter is going to have a different sweet spot and reason than a rifle hunter....so let's not forget the weapon you are using!
In my opinion, the perfect sweet spot on any of the ungulates would be the neck. If you make a good neck shot, the animal drops on the spot, very little meat is ruined and the head remains intact in case the hunter wants to mount it.
